The tax authority reduced the processing time for the tax refund for UAE nationals building new residences

The UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA) announced upgrading three key services, including that for issuing tax certificates, under the ‘Government Services 2.0’ framework.

Tax refund to UAE nationals for building new residences and excise goods registration inquiry responses are the other two services which were upgraded.

The up-gradations are meant to elevate the efficiency and effectiveness of public services and guaranteeing a seamless and user-friendly experience for customers.

Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director General of the FTA, said the initiative reflects the authority’s commitment to elevating service standards to meet the highest global benchmarks and practices set forth in the Government Services Quality Charter.

“In order to simplify procedures and enhance integration with other systems and entities, the FTA has refined the process for ‘Issuance of Tax Certificates’ to expedite their issuance and improve customer experience,” he said.

This includes issuing the Tax Residency Certificates to enable applicants to benefit from tax treaties in which the UAE is a party, and the Tax Residency Certificate for domestic purposes.

The authority has also enhanced the excise goods registration inquiry response service to provide information about the services offered by the Authority through electronic systems to partners via a single channel.

The tax authority also reduced the processing time for the tax refund for UAE nationals building new residences, besides reducing the number of steps for claiming the refund to 5 from 6.
